What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis is a totally natural state of mind and one of the oldest phenomena know to man. It creates a wonderful tired feeling, making you feel so overcome with comfort you wish the feeling could go on forever. Simple hypnotic, relaxation techniques help you attain this state during which it becomes easy to visualise yourself becoming healthier, happier, confident, a non smoker, whatever it is you want to achieve.
There are many forms of psychological therapy but hypnotherapy is distinctive in that it attempts to address the client’s subconscious mind. Enlisting the power of the clients mind and using a wide range of techniques from story telling, metaphor or symbolism to the use of direct suggestions for beneficial change. It is generally considered helpful if the client is personally motivated to change.
Perhaps the most important aspect of the treatment is that the client should feel comfortable and at ease with their therapist. For this reason it is recommended that a single session is booked initially.
Hypnotherapy is a treatment in which beneficial change should become apparent within a relatively few sessions.

Who can be hypnotized?

Virtually everyone, however, some are more readily hypnotisable than others. As mentioned previously it is the power of the client’s mind and the trust in the therapist that enables treatment.

Who may benefit from hypnotherapy?

Again, virtually anyone. Given that hypnotherapy can be utilized to access a persons inner potential and that probably no on is performing to their actual potential. Hypnotherapy is well placed to address ones inner resources to effect beneficial change.

Although there are many areas in which hypnotherapy may bring relief, there are instances in which it may be contra-indicated. These could include some manifestations of depressive illness, epilepsy, psychosis, and some breathing problems.

What are the main areas of treatment with hypnotherapy?

Some common concerns

Loss of control is a common worry. However, during therapy you are still in full control of the situation and can choose whether to talk, stay or go.

What is Emotional Freedom Technique?

EFT is a relatively new therapy developed by Gary Craig, based on pioneering work by Dr Roger Callahan. Its roots, however, go back thousands of years to the ancient Chinese monasteries. Similar to acupuncture but without the invasive needles. Usually only a few sessions are required (sometimes only one) and the treatment can be self administered once learnt.

EFT recognises that the unresolved issues we may have been carrying around for years can be major contributors to our physical pains and problems and to our feelings of anxiety and panic. Emphasising the word freedom here because, with EFT, you don't just start to feel a bit better about something, you experience complete freedom from a particular memory, event or issue. An EFT practitioner uses acupressure points to stimulate well-established energy meridian points on your body by tapping on them with her fingertips, whilst asking you to repeat and tune in emotionally to certain words or phrases. Sounds completely bizarre, doesn't it? And it is. But it works!

A practical tool that you can use:
During the session, I will also teach you simple EFT techniques that you can use on yourself, anywhere and at any time.

Are you looking for rapid results?
Unlike conventional 'talking therapies,' EFT often helps you to make huge strides in only one or two sessions. In fact, it sometimes achieves 'one minute wonders,' in which memories, pain, fear or intrusive thoughts that you've been carrying around for years, vanish in just one quick round of tapping.

Many case histories show large improvements or total healing from:

  • Negative Emotions
  • Grief and Loss
  • Fears and Phobias
  • Food Cravings
  • Guilt
  • Dyslexia
  • Sexual Abuse Issues
  • Anger
  • Shyness
  • Cigarette Addiction
  • Negative Memories
  • Compulsions and Obsessions
  • Nightmares
  • Pain Management
  • Insomnia
  • Drug Addiction
  • Peak Performance
  • Allergies
  • Anxiety and Panic
  • Traumatic Memories
This is just a partial list of the possibilities. Again, in the words of Gary Craig ' Try it on everything.' But he also suggests and is obviously a matter of common sense that 'You should not go where you are not qualified.'

What is Reiki?

ReikiReiki (pronounced Ray-key) is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Energy, an energy which is all around us.

Natural Healing
Reiki is the name given to a system of natural healing which evolved in Japan from the experience and dedication of Dr Mikao Usui (d. 1926). Fired by a burning question, Dr Usui was inspired to develop this healing system from ancient teachings after many years of study, research and meditation. He spent the rest of his life practising and teaching Reiki. Today Reiki continues to be taught by Reiki Masters who have trained in the tradition passed down from Master to student. There is no belief system attached to Reiki so anyone can receive or learn to give a Reiki treatment, the only prerequisite is the desire to be healed.

A Reiki Treatment
The method of receiving a Reiki treatment from a practitioner is a very simple process. The recipient simply lies on a couch and relaxes. If they are unable to lie down the treatment can be given in a sitting position, the main thing is for the recipient to be as comfortable as possible. There is no need to remove any clothing as Reiki will pass through anything, even plaster casts. The practitioner gently places their hands non-intrusively in a sequence of positions which cover the whole body. The whole person is treated rather than specific symptoms. A full treatment usually takes 1 to 1½ hours with each position held for several minutes.

Which conditions can Reiki help?
It is possible to heal at any level of being: physical, mental, emotional or spiritual. Acute injuries can be helped to heal very quickly but more chronic illness takes longer. In some cases such as terminal illness, there is not enough time for the progress of the disease to be reversed. However, in such cases there is usually great benefit and enhancement of the quality of life giving a sense of peace and acceptance during the time remaining. Reiki healing can be given anywhere at any time as no special equipment is needed. The practitioner is a channel which the energy is drawn through by the need or imbalance in the recipient. Neither person has to use any effort of will or concentration during this process. As running water smoothes the jagged edges of a rock until it is small enough to roll away, Reiki flows to the areas of need, soothing pain and supporting the body's natural ability to heal itself. Reiki restores balance in one's life.
